Q: Do you service Sprinters converted into campers?

Yes. We see a lot of camper conversions in the Rogue Valley, from bare DIY builds to high-end pro conversions. Aftermarket house batteries, roof penetrations, and added electrical load don't change how we service the drivetrain, but we will tell you if we see something concerning on the chassis side.

Q: What years of Sprinter do you work on?

All of them. 1995 to 2006 T1N (including the Dodge and Freightliner badged years), 2006 to 2018 NCV3, and 2019 onward VS30. Each generation has its own personality and we know them.

Sprinters are work vehicles, and most of the vans we see are 2500 or 3500 series running the 2.1L or 3.0L Mercedes diesel. Whether you're running a contracting crew, a delivery fleet, or a camper conversion for the weekends, we handle the services that keep these vans on the road.

Routine work includes oil changes with the right Mercedes 229.52 spec synthetic, fuel filter changes on the diesel platforms, transmission fluid services on the NAG1 and 7G-Tronic automatics, and brake work. Diesel service intervals run longer than gas vehicles, but when something is due we catch it early and use Xentry, the factory Mercedes diagnostic system, for all scan and coding work.

Common Sprinter Van Issues We Fix

The OM642 V6 diesel has a few repeat repairs we see all the time. Oil cooler seals fail and leak oil down onto the transmission, which is a big job because the cooler sits in the valley of the engine. Swirl flap failures on the intake manifold are another common one, especially on the 2007 to 2009 NCV3 vans. We've done dozens of these.

DEF system issues are probably the most common reason a Sprinter owner calls us in a panic. NOx sensor failures, CP4 high-pressure fuel pump problems, and blocked DEF injectors can put the van into limp mode or start a countdown to no-start. We diagnose these properly instead of throwing parts at them.

Glow plug and glow plug module failures are another cold-weather favorite, especially for vans that sit for a week between jobs. And if your 722.6 or 7G-Tronic transmission is shuddering through gears, that's usually a torque converter or fluid service away from being fixed.
